Presentation 1: When "TechKnowledge" MeetsTraditional Learning: Making It Work

Blending traditional methodologies with the myriad of online learning solutions to deliver effective employee and management development interventions.

With limited time available and dwindling attention spans, organizations are being challenged to create an interesting and useful curriculum that keeps the learner engaged while delivering improved learning. Our solution in our learning programs is a blend of traditional classroom learning combined with the online and cloud-based curriculum in smaller doses and spread them out over time. In this session, we will share a lesson learned about deploying simulated learning tools such as gamification, curated online Degreed Pathways, utilizing 24/7 online books and curriculum from SkillSoft, targeted weekly Jhana solutions for pre-management, frontline management, and leadership development.

Your Presenter: Suresh Radhakrishnan

Organizational Development and Training Manager, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California

Suresh brings over twenty-nine years of progressive and comprehensive experience providing consulting and support to Executives and Managers on strategic organizational learning initiatives. He manages the Organizational Development and Training function in the Human Resources Group at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) and has served in a broad range of HR roles.

Suresh came to the USA on an international exchange program scholarship in 1980. He has an MBA in Finance and Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, both from Jacksonville State University, Alabama. As a Senior Adjunct Faculty in the College of Business and Public Management at the University of La Verne, where he was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award at ULV for 2014. Suresh has taught Human Resources Management, Business Communication, and Organizational Theory since 1996. He has worked for over 29 years in the water industry at two of the largest municipal water agencies in the world-- the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Presentation 2: New Mixed Reality HoloLens Authoring Tool

On the Job Performance Support

What if you could create on the job performance support that guides the worker visually, step by step, through a complex procedure, “head up” and “hands-free,” using mixed (augmented) reality without programming skills? As the designer of this support, what if you could choose among simple arrows, text, graphics, and images all the way to 3D holograms to provide the perfect guidance for each step? Oh, did we mention doing all this without needing any programming skills?

In this session, we will provide an early look, prior to public pre-release of Microsoft’s new authoring tool for the Hololens. You will see an example project created with the tool and have the opportunity for a “hands-on” demo. Shortly thereafter, a public pre-release version of the tool will be made available to interested learning professionals.

Your Presenter: Thomas Pratt

Thom leads a creative team of talented learning and performance solution designers at CraneMorley in Long Beach, CA that for the past 27 years has earned more than 100 national awards for their practical cutting-edge work with learning technology. He has served as a strategic consultant for curriculum development and delivery, project manager and technologist on a wide variety of eLearning, instructor-led and more recently x-Reality projects.

Thom’s passion is leading or supporting the transition of traditional curriculum to a performance-based, individualized instruction model that drives measurable business performance. Under his leadership, the CM Team has integrated key performance indicators (KPIs) into the pre-assessment, targeted learning and sustainment phases of client curriculums. Integrated KPIs have also supported realistic simulations and performance assessment tools that get learning applied on the job. The CM Team has also delivered innovative prescriptive learning path cloud-based applications that enable traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS) to deliver competency-based learning.

Most recently, Thom has worked closely with Microsoft’s mixed reality (Hololens) engineering team, providing input from a trainer’s perspective and conducting a pre-release pilot in partnership with Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz. Prior to this, Thom led a creative media development team serving enterprise clients for Yale Communications and served as Vice President of Program Services for Cox Communications, responsible for new venture development in satellite narrow-casted entertainment. Thom completed his studies in Film/Television production at the University of California, Irvine. Thom’s service to the professional community includes serving on the board of ISPI-LA, founding the Automotive Roundtable and sponsoring regular Lunch and Learns and other industry events to build a common foundation of learning technology competency among clients and colleagues.

• Antioch University Campus is located at 400 Corporate Pointe, off of Slauson Blvd, a few blocks from the 405 Freeway. The meeting will be held in Room A1006 on the main level. Enter the Lobby and make a right at the first hallway.

Parking

• Park in the parking garage for 400 Corporate Pointe, on level 6 or 7. The entrance to the campus is from the 4th floor of the parking garage, across the courtyard and through the glass doors the Lobby.


• Bring your ticket to the Campus Security Office, near the meeting room, to obtain discounted parking for $7. The office accepts cash and checks only.
