Workshop: Creating Learning Based on How the Brain Works

Your Presenter: Matthew Gjertsen

Former Manager of Training and Development of Space X

When it comes to learning, most people think of what they have the most experience with, formal education such as high school or college. The problem is that there is little connection between the type of learning done in school and the type of learning desired in the corporate world. In the corporate world, we don't care about knowledge transfer, we care about behavior change and changing behavior requires the building of a much larger mental model in the learner's mind than simply remembering facts and thus requires much more focus on how the brain works when it comes to information retention and application.

This workshop will go through three key steps to ensuring you are creating learning courses based on how the brain works. It will include exercises to encourage participants to be creative and come up with new ways to design learning and think about how to best connect with the learner to encourage true behavior change.
